I know that Supes has been around since 1939.  BUT seriously, I think it may be time for a BRAND new hero to take over from Superman leaves off.  After all, he is almost 65.  Retirement time. I have been writing about a superhero of my own devising since 1974 to 2000.  He is as STRONG as Superman, perhaps stronger.  He is NOT human, even though he's in human form.  I will NOT reveal his name to you just yet until you are willing to use MY superhero as a DC comics Superhero. Date: 29 July 2003 From: Chris To: Metropolis Mailbag In recent years, it appears that Superman has regained his ability to travel in space without needing to breathe.  I've read that Superman does not really need to eat because he survive by prosessing solar energy instead.  I was wondering if that applies to breathing as well?  It only makes sence that it would.  And does Mxyzptlk saying his name backwards force him to return to his home dimension, or does he return as part of an agreement?  Different comics have suggested both explanations.  Wait a minute, I can spell Mxyzptlk?  I need to get a life! Date: Monday, May 26, 2003 at 21:47:44 From: A Daily Stargazer To: Metropolis Mailbag The comparison between the Earth-1 and Earth-2 versions of Superman at the end of "Superman Takes a Wife" is intriguing.  But I have a question about the comparative strength of the two Men of Steel: If the Kryptonians of the Earth-2 universe had X-ray vision and the ability to leap their own tall buildings (as demonstrated in the "Secret Origin of the Golden Age Superman" story done in the mid-1980s), wouldn't they be more powerful than the Kryptonians of the Earth-1 universe, who had no such powers on their Krypton? Furthermore, if that is so, then shouldn't the Earth-2 Superman be more powerful in an earthly environment than his Earth-1 counterpart?  Why is the Earth-1 version often portrayed as the "more powerful" of the two? Thank you for the hours of enjoyment you've given me, reading these great adventures once again.  And your pages are so beautifully rendered I can barely imagine the time it must take to prepare these stories for the web! Now if I could only get to read "The Leper from Krypton" storyline from the late '60s once again ... 35 years is a long time to wait for a second reading! Kevin
