Hi!  Just wanted to say that I really enjoy this site.  I've loved Superman since I was a kid.  I can never get enough of him.  It really takes me back and lets me escape for a little while.  So keep up the good work and thank you so much for doing this site.  Bye now.

I would like some more information about the Superman theme park and I would also like some information about upcoming events in Metroplis.

Kyle, to find out more about the theme park, write to the mayor of Metropolis.  To find out about upcoming events, contact the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce.

Who was Solomon Grundy and in which comic did he first appear? ...... The Crash Test Dummies refer to him in their Superman Song.....

I found your page it's totally great!  I've been a big comic fan and I hope to see pages like this for other superheroes, do you or you know pages like this one for Batman or Wonder Woman?  I love to see Detective Comics, just like I saw Action Comics and those great origins of Superman, keep the good work!!!

Actually, I've read an entire replica of this classic issue of Superman years ago, not just this excerpt of it.  Although Superman's suit has remained basically unchanged from the 1930's to the present, sure enough his tone of character has evolved greatly since then.  Obviously, he's had humble beginings, e.g. lifting a car above his head, outrunning a locomotive, or jumping over tall buildings.  Today, of course, he's still been proven invincible, even against the onslaught of hi-tech adversity, both earthly and extraterrestrial.  Yet, will there continue to be a Superman, compatible for the coming 21st century, or is the great "Man of steel" really doomed to extinction?

First off, I have been reading Superman since 1970 & I STILL AM. I know that Supes has been around since 1939.  BUT seriously, I think it may be time for a BRAND new hero to take over from Superman leaves off.  After all, he is almost 65.  Retirement time.

I have been writing about a superhero of my own devising since 1974 to 2000.  He is as STRONG as Superman, perhaps stronger.  He is NOT human, even though he's in human form.  I will NOT reveal his name to you just yet until you are willing to use MY superhero as a DC comics Superhero.

I am quite sure a LOT of fans would like someone fresh.  You should bring the Metal Men back.  They are AWESOME.

Regards
    Your longtime fan

In recent years, it appears that Superman has regained his ability to travel in space without needing to breathe.  I've read that Superman does not really need to eat because he survive by prosessing solar energy instead.  I was wondering if that applies to breathing as well?  It only makes sence that it would.  And does Mxyzptlk saying his name backwards force him to return to his home dimension, or does he return as part of an agreement?  Different comics have suggested both explanations.  Wait a minute, I can spell Mxyzptlk?  I need to get a life!

I can't say enough good things about this site.  I've mentioned this site to everyone who will listen to my ramblings!  superman.nu/superman-comics brings back memories of the Superman mythos that I grew up with, when Superman was Superboy as a teenager and he had a pet dog named Krypto.  When Clark Kent worked double hours for both the Daily Planet AND the WGBS-TV Channel 8 News.  As Bob Hope once said, "Thanks for the memories"!

(It's also nice seeing the "Metropolis Mailbag" in existence!  I don't think I'll ever forgive DC for discontinuing the column in the back of their comics...)

Thank you so very much for putting up all these classical stories.  I have been a fan of supes all my life, but unfortunately, where I live it´s hard to find comics.  I have read these stories, some of them I had, some of them not, and it´s puts me in contact with my childhood.

I would like to request, if it is possible that you could put on your page the crisis on infinite earths saga, or stories of the new superman.  thanks again, guys!!

To "A Daily Stargazer," who has asked questions like, "Shouldn't the Golden Age Superman be more powerful than the Earth-1 Superman?" I would suggest that you -- and others -- have a look at the discussions in the forum on this wonderful website.  The "message forum" link is at the top of this page.

Your fellow Superman fan,

The comparison between the Earth-1 and Earth-2 versions of Superman at the end of "Superman Takes a Wife" is intriguing.  But I have a question about the comparative strength of the two Men of Steel:

If the Kryptonians of the Earth-2 universe had X-ray vision and the ability to leap their own tall buildings (as demonstrated in the "Secret Origin of the Golden Age Superman" story done in the mid-1980s), wouldn't they be more powerful than the Kryptonians of the Earth-1 universe, who had no such powers on their Krypton?

Furthermore, if that is so, then shouldn't the Earth-2 Superman be more powerful in an earthly environment than his Earth-1 counterpart?  Why is the Earth-1 version often portrayed as the "more powerful" of the two?

Hi!

Nice story, though it was never made clear just WHAT effect the Red Kryptonite had on Superman.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

This site ROCKS!  I wasn't even born in the time these comics were released (in many cases) - How awesome to see them!

Keep scanning!

I would love to see the 3rd and 4th part of "Who Took the Super Out of Superman?" very much.

Larry

p.s. you ask for Paypal for subscriptions, you got it!  I would be happy to add to this archive!

Larry, you'll be pleased to know that we're currently working on PART THREE of "Who Took the Super out of Superman?"  As a matter of fact, here's a sneak peak at the first two pages!

And we certainly accept Paypal donations - here are the details!

Thanks again and glad you like the site!

What a thrill it is to be able to read those stories that stirred my imagination so many years ago - like Supermen-Red and Superman-Blue!  Even as a young lad of 7, I was able to tell the difference between a good comic and a real classic, and this one had it all!  Great story elements, plus the super-art team of Curt Swan & George Klein!

Thank you for the hours of enjoyment you've given me, reading these great adventures once again.  And your pages are so beautifully rendered I can barely imagine the time it must take to prepare these stories for the web!

Now if I could only get to read "The Leper from Krypton" storyline from the late '60s once again ... 35 years is a long time to wait for a second reading!

I love all the comics and the frequent updates!  I'd really like to see more stories by Samuel Hawkins and comics from the 70s.  Also, how about a mailing list for new updates?

Thanks for the story suggestions, David!

I'm glad to see such enthusiasm for The Man Of Steel!  I read the comics when I was a kid.  I wore a towel for a cape, and had a white t-shirt with an "S" drawn on it in crayon.  When the movie came out in the late 1970s, I thought it would be corny.  I thought society had "outgrown" Superman.  Boy, was I wrong!  It really brought the Big Guy to life!  I watch Smallville, which is turning out to be another nice addition to the Supe story.

Thanks!

Kurt

When will the Superman Theme Park open?

To find out what's going on with the Superman Theme Park, please send a letter to the mayor of Metropolis - this will show support by letting them know that people are interested, and increase the probability that the project will actually happen!

Brings back a lot of memories, since I'm fiftyish. I loved all the silver age DC comics, particularly Space Ranger & Adam Strange(especially C. Infantino's artwork).

Found this site by accident because I was searching for Edmond Hamilton websites (fan of Captain Future).

Thanks for the memories, was also a fan of Curt Swan.

Dear all,

I love your online comics. You have enabled me to purchase the Superman and Batman 50’s, 60’s and 70’s books which are just great value. Buying the comics from the US or ebay is so costly these omnibus editions are terrific. Please continue and know that we out here appreciate you efforts. Thanks.

Regards,

Jeff

Hello!  Thanks for the online stories... I second the request for all four Superman/Flash races.  Also, how about a JLA story that prominently features Superman?  Or some World's Finest / DC Comics Presents team-ups?

Keep up the GREAT work!
