Actually, I've read an entire replica of this
classic issue of Superman years ago, not just this excerpt of it. Although Superman's suit has remained basically unchanged from the 1930's to the present, sure enough his tone of character has evolved greatly since then. Obviously, he's had humble beginings, e.g. lifting a car above his head, outrunning a locomotive, or jumping over tall buildings. Today, of course, he's still been proven invincible, even against the onslaught of hi-tech adversity, both earthly and extraterrestrial. Yet, will there continue to be a Superman, compatible for the coming 21st century, or is the great "Man of steel" really doomed to extinction?
